I had a faint memory in the back of my mind of an unfamiliar bar somewhere closer to Hamilton from where we lived in Smithville. The fragments of this memory didn’t come together until I drove along Highway 3 instead of the 401 to my Mom’s house one weekend.

Hearing aids are a blessing and a curse. A blessing for obvious reasons. It’s great to hear the low-talkers and mumblers of the world. A curse because I believe they lead some of the hearing-abled to think that if we wear them, we’re cured!

The annual Botten-and-cousins-fest happened over the weekend. This is the one whose early, backyard days in Sharon, ON brought some of York Region’s finest in uniform to cap the noise.
…The headline read, “VP Pence supports Trump Administration’s Decision to Bar US Embassies From Flying Pride Flags”. My first thought was, that’s not even news.

No feeding tubes, no life support, no resuscitation.

On Friday night, I attended an invitation-only Celebration of Life. It was unusual, and a first for me, because the life we were celebrating isn’t over. The honoree was there, at the YOU (Youth Opportunities Unlimited) Cafe in downtown London.
…This ol’ house is an adventure! It isn’t a fixer-upper by any means but it’s nearly 80 years old and that presents some challenges.

It’s never bothered me to get captured by surveillance cameras. I know it annoys some people that everywhere we go, there’s a lens on us. Add to that, the people who feel the need to record everything, grabbing our images in the process.
