I published my take on ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas in 2012. As we head into a short holiday break, I decided to rerun it because a) I still believe in the message (LOL) and b) when I was a kid, I wrote poetry all the time. Family and friends got poems in their Christmas and Birthday cards. I think I could have been Weird Alina if I’d put my mind to it. Anyway, please enjoy and we shall reconvene here in 2024!
‘Twas the day before Christmas and all through the city,
Some weren’t finished shopping and that was a pity.
The fighting for parking, long line-ups and hurry,
Picked-over selections were causing them worry.
They rushed to the kiosk where wrapping’s done free,
To find they’re in line with ten shoppers times three.
At home it is dinner that next takes their time,
The turkey, the stuffing, potatoes and thyme.
Now back to the last-minute scramble around,
Just hoping the best gifts are still to be found.
I have some advice that I hope you remember,
The stress is much less if you start in September!

Have a very Merry Christmas!
HA! Love it – and thanks for not take the easy way out and going “thyme” instead of lime; homonyms aren’t rhymes! Besides, surely someone uses lime in their Christmas dinner preparations – or will NOW! Thanks for your posts here all through the year – do you write them alone, or get help from reindeer? (OK, lame rhyme. Couldn’t help myself! Thanks again, sista. xox)
Heehee – thank you for getting me, today and always. Love to you and the family.
Wishing you and your family, a Very Safe and Happy Holiday Season and all the Very Best in 2013 as well as many thanks for the 2012 smiles as I read your blogs each day.
