I’ve been treated for high blood pressure for a while now. It’s a family trait, like brown eyes and no visible waist. And now that Derek’s in the BP testing game too, we’ve kicked it up a notch.
I’m thinking about dedicating a closet to health-related gizmos. Oh, I’m exaggerating. We don’t have THAT many, but between heating pads, medication, a diabetes testing kit and now a blood-pressure monitor, we could easily pack a large shelf with medical stuff. Oh, and the neti pot. Mustn’t forget the neti pot.
This device appears to pack as much of a punch as the one in our doctor’s office. Sadly, a study also came out last week that claimed virtually every home monitor gives incorrect readings. “We’ll just have to take them more often!” said the new patient, with glee.
There’s a meme going around on Facebook that reads: “You’re still a rock star, I whisper to myself as I take my multivitamin and go to bed at 9 pm.” Now we can add taking our blood pressure, too. Rock stars, indeed.
I recently did some research for the lifeguard working at our corporation’s pool this year who is going to school to become a par-a-medic and needed a blood pressure cup/monitor and I found this site. These products are likely more expensive given their target audience (medical students), but also may meet your needs. Also, recent medical reports, say that you should take your blood pressure twice, once with each arm for a more accurate reading.
