The Trump presidency is making me angry but also confused. I feel the need to figure out how so many smart, accomplished people refuse to acknowledge that he is a buffoon who isn’t keeping any of his promises to “make America great again”. His administration is boiling in a soup of mistrust, firings, public back-stabbings and deceptions. Three things I read in recent days helped shape my focus on what’s really happening in the USA and I want to share them with you. The first is a tweet.
I only wish I could remember who I should credit for this: History will show the Trump presidency to be the result of America’s racist overreaction to electing its first African-American president.
Let that sink in for a moment. It’s bitter, vile and probably at least partly accurate.
The second piece I read that hit me hard was an op-ed piece in the Chicago Tribune titled Donald Trump’s Behavior Isn’t Normal. Well, that’s obvious, you reply. Yes, it is, but it’s the way Rex Huppke lays it out that makes it clear enough for the biggest Trump supporter to absorb despite reading it through rose-coloured glasses. It’s not about policy. It’s about behavior. Read it HERE
And the third is really only for those who are absorbed by this nightmare. It’s the New York Times’ account of so-called “off the record” comments made by Trump to reporters aboard Air Force One. The article came about a few weeks ago after Trump questioned why reporters weren’t printing these oral gems. “Because they were said off the record, sir.” Nope, not to Trump. Print ’em. Let the masses see my genius at work! If you care and if you dare, find them HERE.
George Takei tweeted a response to one of Drumpf’s babbles: “History shall record that you are not only the stupidest, most incompetent president ever, but also the cruelest and pettiest. #Shame,”
