Ken and I are shooting a TV commercial this morning. It’s not just for our Morning Show on CJBK; afternoon drive host Andy Oudman is also in it and although the script is a closely guarded secret, I gather we are taking part in a mock debate, so it sounds like it will be fun. I will post it here once it’s finished and on the air.Â
This is our Facebook banner. Ken is 6′ 2″. I’m 5′ 5″. They made me stand on a riser because in the last photos we shot, posed next to Stretch McGee I looked like I was about to climb back into a tree before my cookies burned.
The two of us are about to mark our first anniversary as a radio team and nothing makes us appreciate each other more than when one of us goes on vacation. When one’s away, the other does everything. We, like most other shows across the continent, are a slimmed down version of what used to involve as many as a dozen people. Two of us can get the job done. One of us? Well, imagine having a conversation with yourself about a hot topic. I’m not complaining – it’s just how it is. And it helps us see the true value in each other when we’re back together again.
For a married couple, the traditional first-anniversary gift is paper and the modern one is a clock. Perhaps I’ll draw a clock on a piece of paper which is certainly easier than making a paper clock. Like Cagney and Lacey, Crockett and Tubbs, Joanie and Chachi – no wait, bad example – we will continue to fight the bad guys while having each other’s back. Except without guns. Or pastel suits. Or guest star Phil Collins. Otherwise, we’re just like them.
