Spam I Am

It’s been some time since I last shared some of my favourite spam. Spammers are getting craftier about trying to slip past the gates of my website comments and onto the live pages. They’re easily identified by their names and fake email addresses, terrible grammar and awkward phrasing. But the fake praise they pile in a heap is worth sharing! 

This one came from Singapore:

Magnificent beat! I would like to apprentice while you amend your website, how could i subscribe for a blog site? The account aided me a acceptable deal.

This one wants you to invest in gold and silver. Note the outdated reference to Myspace:

Howdy! Somebody in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came to check it out.I’m definitely loving the information. I’m bookmarking and will be tweeting this to my followers! Fantastic blog and wonderful style and design.

And then there’s this one from Accurate Tarot Card Readings:

The website looks great, the articles are excellent. You’re so cool! I dont suppose Ive read anything like this before. So wonderful to find any individual with some unique thoughts on this subject. really thank you for starting this up. this website is one thing that’s wanted on the web, somebody with some originality. good job for bringing something new to the internet!

Aw, come on guys, you’re making me blush!

This is why first comments must be approved. I want you to comment and I hope you will! But I also have to protect my site from invasive species. I can tell which posts are the most popular by the amount of spam they attract. The biggest target? A Beautiful Send-Off – my post last December about Erin Davis’ final show on CHFI. Every day, dozens of spam “comments” attempt to stick to that entry. It’s a weird compliment and testament to Erin’s popularity.
