Perhaps I’ve played the proud Aunt once or twice before, and mentioned that my eldest nephew, Josh, is training on the Canadian Olympic bobsled team. Josh is an elite athlete in track and field, and after getting his university education on a U.S. track scholarship, he thought his Olympic dreams were over.
Although his entire life is now devoted to bobsled training and competition, there’s still a chance he could get knocked off the team by a younger, faster wannabe. The mental challege of his sport is to put that out of his mind and give it everything he has with an aim of competing at Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018.
The National Post did a terrific job of explaining Josh’s wild ride thus far. If you’re interested in how an athletic young guy working for the Calgary Flames marketing department finds himself hurtling down the world’s most famous Olympic bobsled tracks at 140 km/hr, you can read the story HERE.
