Cats can be kind of disgusting. They’re more-or-less clean and rather obsessed with self-grooming but…well…if you’ve ever had a cat, you know. So when I heard about Luuup, the self-described Best Litter Box Ever Made, I had to investigate. This reads a bit like an infomercial, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not because my beta phase with this product has only just begun AND I paid full price for two of them, delivered.
Luuup broke records when its creator launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign. They retail for $50 each but the claim is that they will never need rinsing and all you have to do is pan for clumps and dump them out. We cat owners are so sick of dealing with litter boxes. It’s a necessary evil, which is the perfect way to describe it because it’s a hellish task. But Luuup claims it has solved the problem. Can Dini Petty be wrong?
Did you notice that Dini never actually touched the litter box? That’s because it’s disgusting! I’m really hoping that these two Luuups will make this chore less dreadful. Our two senior cats, Sugar and Spice, will put them to the test and I’ll report back with their review.
Speaking of the kids, it appears that one of them has been using the floor near the litter box as a urinal. It seems accuracy no longer matters. I sat them down and we discussed it over some kibble and they swear it’s not them. I know it’s not me and after a long interrogation, I cleared Derek. So, now I’m in the process of interviewing everyone who has been to our home in the past month. When I call, please answer the questions honestly. There will be no repercussions* for admitting to being the guilty party.
*That’s a total lie! Repercussions will be swift and severe!
This looks amazing! I am really interested, where can I get one?
Hey Kim – I had to order mine online because they don’t have a distributor in London. It’s luuup.com – I’ll put an experiment update online next week!
Thanks Lisa. And I look forward to the update.
Wish it had a lid.
BTW Lisa, I don’t want to scare you but we once had a cat peeing outside of the box; reason being in her case was that she a major spinal issue that we were not aware of when we rescued her at 10 years of age and therefore she could not “squat” in the box so her butt was hanging outside of the box when she peed. Another issue could be an older cat having trouble getting in and out of the box. Hope you get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, what we did was buy dog pee pads and set them up outside the box. It helped (for a while) with the accidents of pee spraying outside the box.
Thanks Jean! She has been checked out thoroughly so I hope it’s not her back. She eats like a slob and we just assume that her bathroom habits are messy too! The pee pad idea is a great one. I’m going to look into it. “the bottom of it” har har!
