I’ve agreed to cohost a TV show for Rogers London, airing this fall. But production is already underway due to the enthusiasm of my cohost.
If there’s such a thing as a lead cohost, Donald D’Haene is that. The Dish with Donald and me is his concept, his name and coming together because of his energy. He’s bursting with ideas and I’m just catching them as they fly toward me, hitting some back to him and letting others go wild! I’m tickled that he came to me to be part of it.
Donald is a writer, producer, actor, author and winner of a Pillar Community Innovation Award for Community Leadership. He’s witty and outspoken and if I can be a little shallow for a moment, pretty easy on the eyes! He appeared on Oprah when she did a show on male survivors of sexual abuse. His book, Father’s Touch, came out in 2010 to terrific reviews and I’m about to read it. The best part about all of this is that we have a meeting of the minds, a chemistry if you will, that allows us to interact well in person.
So we are bringing on sponsors and coming up with a wish-list for guests. The show will include our own stories from meeting famous people, and insider tales from our lives in the media. We’ll tackle topics that arise from this great city we call home. The current double-dipping story that’s coming out of London’s university would be a delicious dish! However, I have faith that the city that had a criminal mayor, four ousted councillors who billed the city for new tires as they left office and a St. Patrick’s Day riot that saw police standy by helplessly while young hooligans burned a CTV truck will generate something juicy again by the time we start shooting this summer.
And did I mention that I’m working on a book about radio? It’s not about my experiences, but those of a couple of Toronto broadcasting legends. There’s your teaser! More to come when I’m free to spill the details!
Congrats! No wonder you have no time to cook (see aforementioned frozen dinners). You’re amazing.
