This is Rock the Park weekend here in London. For those of us on The Big Show on Free-FM it means a five-hour live broadcast from Harris Park followed by band intros, meets and greets and such. We have appointment with Huey Lewis & the News, Burton Cummings and the band whose big win in our contest got them the right to open the day, Highway Jones.
It’s a fun day and a long one so today we take deep breaths, pack bottles of water, and prepare. We are fortunate to broadcast and watch from a VIP area in a gazebo so we don’t have to huddle with the masses except to walk through them to get to where our magic lanyards will allow us backstage. It can get stressful because the bands are on strict schedules and their handlers are sometimes, well, real assholes! (I believe I wrote about the no pictures, no names, no handshakes rules for Toto etc last year!) Today I will think about this photo every time I want to stress out!
