Many months ago the Yonanas machine caught my attention but it took a while to convince me to acquire one for my own.
After all, could there be a difference between what this $50 machine does to frozen fruit than, say, my drink blender or food processor? I read scads of reviews about it and watched it become pretty popular before I dove in and purchased one earlier this month.
The Yonanas pulverizes frozen fruit (and just about anything else that’s frozen!) and turns it into a frosty treat the consistency of frozen yogurt. We love it! I’ve experimented with varying combinations of frozen bananas, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, Hershey kisses, fat-free brownies and frozen Arrowroot cookies. It’s really made for fruit. The content needs some moisture in order to get whipped into a delicious frenzy. Also, the hardest of hard frozen fruits need to sit and start to sweat for the best results. That only takes a couple of minutes. It really is very good and there’s no mystery about it because you control what goes in it. I haven’t quite perfected the process each time yet, but I’m getting the hang of it. And even when it comes out confetti it’s still pretty tasty. Part of the trick is keeping the cone full as long as possible.
The inner workings are comprised of a couple of hard plastic parts and this cone-shaped thing that holds some small, sharp, serrated blades that whip around.
It’s very easy to clean and not very big so it’s easy to store. Its only negative is that it is very noisy. But it’s quick and I think it’s totally worth it. Yo, nanas, thanks for the dessert.
