The cat’s vigil at the downstairs fridge continues, off and on. He is on high alert for a critter beneath it. The only problem is we’ve pulled it out and cleaned behind it and there is nothing there. And if there was something there, it wasn’t there long.
However, Derek pulled his winter vest off the downstairs coat rack on the weekend and discovered one of the pockets had been chewed through. That’s because he had left a chocolate bar in there over the seasons and it was nibbled into as well. Now we believe that’s the work of the mouse that Spice presented to us, deceased, many months ago in that general area of the basement. He did look well fed. The mouse, that is.
Other than flat Mickey who was presented a week or so ago there have been no other signs of mouse or mouse fallout. I thought I saw some evidence behind the fridge but turned out not to be the case. That was some fun investigating! So there sits our beloved mouser, on a vigil, waiting for a creature that will never come out.
Meantime his health is good. I’ve started grinding his kibble allotment into a powder and he’s able to nosh on that once in a while. The full kibble bits are impossible for him to chew with no molars. We tried softening them with water but he didn’t care for that. He seems to be happier with having between-meal snacks again. He’s as awesome as ever and the little light of our home.
Your little man is adorable. 🙂 I’ve been given little furry presents from my cats as well, but thankfully, none of them have been found inside the house. At least, not yet. 😛
Thanks for the update on Spice and the picture Lisa. We lost our Lucy last week (due to a stroke)and we will save another life soon but until then, our house seems so empty. No mice in our house but I could always count on Lucy to guide me to a spider!
Hug your cat today and enjoy the weekend.
Oh I’m so sorry about Lucy. That’s the only downside of pets – they just don’t live long enough. I’m sure she had a great life with you and another lucky kitty will make your house feel full again.
