I have a feeling that the only thing my brother will hate more than being sung to in a restaurant is having his photo posted here. Oh well!
I took this iPhone picture the other day at the Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover where our family met for lunch. If there is a gene for “having a fuss made over you” I got two and Kevin didn’t get any! My Mom had brought a candle and some matches and she lit it in a slice of cheesecake. We barely began a very low-key rendition of Happy Birthday to You – and keep in mind that the lunch crowd had cleared out and it was just us and one other table of patrons – and Kevin immediately waved us away and blew out his candle at light-speed, thinking it would stop our choir. It did not!
I only have one brother and our parents only have two kids. It’s our right to make a little fuss over him once in a while.
The Erie Beach is a bit of a throwback to days of yore. I doubt its decor has ever been updated and certainly its menu hardly has, in the decades that we have been going there for perch and celery bread. My parents and their friends have made it a regular spot since they were very young. The food is an art form. I hope it never changes. and like other older things that are predictable and enjoyable, I hope my baby brother doesn’t go changing either. Happy Birthday!
Kevin, congratulations. And those home made chocolate chip cookies should be arriving from your dear sister shortly. Candles and birthday songs optional.
Thank you Allan, she assured me the cookies are in the mail so it’s only a matter of time! And thanks sis. Thanks for the birthday wishes, but most of all thanks for your uncanny ability to make me look feeble of mind in every pic you take! You’re the best!
Hey don’t blame the artist for how the subject looks!
Nice……and on my birthday….
You can’t say I never gave you anything.
