When I published The Naked Truth last October I said it would be an ebook only.
Then I recorded an audio version that’s a collection of MP3s on one CD. And now I’m seriously investigating putting it out in paperback.
Authors can be pretty autonomous these days. I control every aspect of the ebook and audio of my little project and if I do come out with a printed version, it will have been completely designed by me and printed via an “on demand” service. I’ve purchased a few books this way myself, most recently Lynda Matthews’ memoir of her life with her husband, A Breath Away. And I do appreciate that there are people who still want to hold an actual book in their hands.
I’ve been asked repeatedly if I have any plans to go beyond Kobo and Kindle (Chapters and Amazon) with The Naked Truth and it just might happen. It looks entirely doable although the formatting required for a paper publisher looks as daunting as the ebook conversions did. And if I follow through, it doesn’t mean you’ll find a rack of them in the bookstore but it does mean that if you wanted to, you could order a real page-turner instead of a virtual book. Stay tuned!
