It was a quiet and low-key weekend around the house as hubby prepared to take on a marathon week.
Every year, The Grand Theatre – London’s main live theatre performance hall – holds a one-night, fundraising, all-star performance of a classic play. This year they’re doing The 39 Steps, based on the Alfred Hitchcock thriller. Derek is one of dozens of well-known local personalities in politics, real-estate and other realms, who will perform a role. He will play – wait for it – a radio announcer! His role is a BBC announcer, who provides transitions between scenes. He has rehearsals every night and the show goes on Thursday. As they hoped, the show is getting a ton of hype from the participants on social media. The Grand is exactly as its name implies – a grand theatre on on par with Toronto’s Princess of Wales or another legendary venue. Even if it doesn’t go off perfectly, perhaps especially if it doesn’t go off perfectly, Thursday is bound to be an unforgettable night for one of our city’s gems!
How exciting! Is this something either of you have done before?
Nope! I’ve never been asked to! Derek’s role continues through the play, too. 😀
Is he using an accent? (Er, a British one, p’haps?)
He is indeed!
Great – I may just call him to get my Brit fix until Downton Abbey returns. “I say…is Derek there, please?!?!”
