Hundreds of broadcasters have said they’ll write books about behind-the-scenes of radio. Very few have followed through. I think it’s time.
I’m gathering stories big and small, old and new, about life in radio. I’ve already got some real gems. And I know that there are many, many more out there just waiting for an audience.
I’m not going to make a million on everybody else’s experiences. This is Canada! I want to do this for the same reasons I wrote The Naked Truth – for the experience of it. I plan to tell and retell bunches of my own stories. They include getting locked out while I was on the air at MIX 99.9, crawling out from C101’s studios during a fire and seeing my first stripper up close – too close! – during a lunch “with the boys” in Red Deer, Alberta.
So if you have a story you like to tell about the business, the one you tell when you’re around non-radio people and it makes their jaws drop, that’s the kind of story I’m looking for. Email it to lisambrandt1@gmail.com and I’ll keep you posted on if and when this little project takes shape.
