This happened on Saturday and it was going to be my Saturday blog post until the tragedy in Connecticut shook everything up.
It’s the Gifts For Strangers initiative that last year took place in 23 cities including Toronto. It’s in London now, and took place Saturday in Victoria Park, spearheaded by a young Mom and her 6-year-old son. A few years ago she was helped by strangers when she couldn’t afford to make a Christmas for her little boy. So she decided to teach her son about the true spirit of Christmas by bringing the program to our city. She handed out gifts, homemade and purchased, to anyone who happened past them. What’s the point? Just to give people that warm fuzzy feeling of giving and getting, for no reason at all.
If you have any interest in knowing more about it, visit their website here. After all, there’s always next year. And if, on Saturday, you noticed someone who wasn’t dressed in a red suit, handing out presents to people who passed by, they were probably taking part.
