Well, I had a post up here about our city’s Mayor being a bit of a douchenozzle for keeping his counsel and not saying anything until charges by the RCMP have finally forced him to.
He says he’s innocent. He is our Mayor. I have to make the assumption that he is innocent until proven otherwise.
In his lawyer’s office today Fontana said the cheque in question, the one from Public Works to the Marconi Club back when he was a federal cabinet minister, was to “hold a room” for his son’s wedding. I don’t quite know how that’s any better than paying a deposit with it but his lawyer says it will all be explained in a court of law.
It could take a year to sort this out. Fontana refuses to leave. “I have work to do. I have a mandate from the people of London. I am innocent of these charges.”
Alright Joe. You’ve handled this whole thing extremely poorly. Why not say you’re innocent from the start? Let’s see what happens. His lawyer says it could take a year. I’ll wait.
