Last weekend I attended a wedding reception for a couple whose ceremony was held in February in the Dominican Republic. I wasn’t even invited to the party! The groom, Zack, is my cousin’s son. I went as the plus one of another cousin in the family. It was like sneaking into a secret society where I knew everyone.
It was a lovely, outdoor event at the Lions Park in the little hamlet of Formosa. We laughed, we did the polka, some drank a whole lot and the rest of us were thankful that they had trailers and tents nearby to stumble to. It was a great time and it’s been a long time since I’ve attended the wedding of a couple of twenty-somethings. Their guest favours were very cool. One was a tall, thin shot glass with their name and date on it. It would be suitable to use as a vase for a small bamboo stalk, since my shot days passed long ago. But this was my favourite parting gift:
How wise and on trend is that? A reusable shopping bag. I’ve already used it a bunch of times and it looks like it will never wear out. I’ll think of them every time I buy groceries. I’ll also think about kicking off my sandals and doing the polka with my cousin Mike as he twirled me through a puddle of spilled beer on the cement floor.
One can’t write a post about a wedding without including a photo of the bride and groom. Ladies and gentlemen, Zack and Lacey. Awwwwww.
What a great idea for any event! Reunions, etc. I’ll put it my mental stash for future events.
