I have a bit of a philosophy that’s not written in stone or even fully formed but it goes something like this: If it’s going to work out, it usually comes together pretty easily. Or something like that. In my experience, pushing and struggling and sweating and wallowing in anxiety doesn’t get me anywhere.
With that in mind I approached one literary agent about publishing my little book. We went back and forth for a while, I created a proposal complete with target audiences and promotional ideas and received a very kind “no thanks” for my trouble. That’s okay. I can live with that! The best part of his “kindly now go away” letter was his description of my idea and writing as “entertaining and informative”. It’s not as if he said, “your idea has no merit and you can’t string together a sentence to save your life”! So I shall forge ahead.
I decided that this would be the only agent I would approach. I know his history and his wealth of experience and I think he represents an industry point of view I can respect. So my next step will be to hire a professional editor with whom I’ve been in touch. And then I will go the e-book route. So please stay tuned. This will all be part of my “get rich slow” scheme. I’ll price it reasonably and offer it in as many places as possible. It may take weeks or even months but it’s coming. You’ve been warned!
You have me curious now, maybe when it comes out I’ll buy a copy just to see, besides, it’s been years since I’ve done any reading for pleasure, only courses.
