Everyone should have a Kerry in their life. Kerry Weaver is a friend but she’s also a mother hen, a warm and caring person who has integrity out the yahoo.
At the bike show in Kitchener Kerry suggested we get a team photo done by Danny Bailey, our event photographer who does absolutely stellar work. So this is the result. It’s not everybody, unfortunately, but it’s the core team and the people who do the bulk of the work to get the show on the road. Especially the guy in the Hawaiian shirt! I love this photo because I love our team. (photo can be enlarged by clicking!)
L to R: Steve Obar, a jack-of-all-trades who will do security, carry the heavy stuff and even roll up posters and stamp hands if it’s needed. Simply a great guy.
Kerry Weaver. It’s Kerry you have to deal with if you try to weasel out of paying for your booth space or extra tickets. She’s as sweet as honey until you owe her money! She is the wolf in sheep’s clothing at the VIP entrance.
Gaetan Labbe. That’s Navy Captain Labbe to you! Gaetan led our country’s ships in the 1991 Gulf War and likes to proudly say that despite all of the dangerous missions and trouble they ran into, he came back with every man and woman he left with. Gaetan uses his military precision when it comes to getting things done and no task gets left behind.
Derek – the one on whom arranging the whole thing rests. He does everything from sales to ordering trophies to dealing with each and every wish and want from affiliates. And somehow he does it all without the top of his head blowing off, despite getting up at 3:30 am to host a radio show.
Jeff Weaver. Kerry’s son. Jeff manages/creates our website and does security and all of those other things that need doing including reaching things on high shelves. (We love him like a nephew)
Me. I do press releases, newsletters and deal with the custom bike entrants. I’m also a heck of an errand runner and a Show Director morale-keeper-upper!
Barry Wilcox, our head of security. The man is fearless, talented and has a great laugh. He can also keep his cool when those around him are losing theirs. And he makes a hell of a potato soup.
There are others on the team. Dino is Derek’s partner in this venture and was unavailable for the photo. Shirley is our accounting diva. The Parker family do cash and debit at the door. Others join us here and there including Jeff “Thunder” Langford and the Newingtons; Suzanne and Paul as well as Manny and some of the other girls who work cash. Getting us all together is like trying to herd cats, especially at show time. So this is what we have for now. The worst part about show season ending is not seeing these people as often.
That is an AWESOME photo!!! Why isn’t it up on your FB page, missy? 🙂
It is now! I put it up on the World of Motorcycles page right away and foolishly thought that was enough! :p
