Why don’t American political candidates get the rights to the songs they use at their campaign events before they use them?
Is getting a cease-and-desist order from Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen some sort of badge of honour? It’s a simple process to ask permission. Maybe they know they would always be refused.
What in the world is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg ever going to do with more than 20 billion dollars? He is currently worth $17.5 B. When Facebook goes public another $5 B will be raised. Forget Occupy Wall Street. Occupy Zuckerberg’s front lawn.
When will somebody finally have the stones to make CBC a truly public broadcaster? A bunch of Tory backbenchers are passing around petitions to stop the $1.1 B in funding for the Mother Corp. but you can bet it’s not going to mean anything. They call it “pulse-taking”. I actually enjoy a lot of what the CBC does but I am irked that its television is competing against private broadcasters for revenue and still getting government subsidies. It’s just weird that one foot is in each world and yet the broadcasting services are rated and compared to private entities. No it’s worse than weird, it’s unfair.
