The Hamilton World of Motorcycles Expo is in the books. It goes by so fast. Now bring on the London show in 2 mere weeks! Before I became involved with the World of Motorcycles Expo several years ago, I never would have ever imagined what goes on behind the scenes of a trade show. Some exhibitors are absolute dreams. They’re optimistic forces of nature or they just love what they do so much that they go with the flow. Sometimes a light bulb goes out, you know? So you call the guy with the bulbs and he fixes it. Most people understand. But others are so high maintenance it is a tremendous challenge to keep from punching them in the throat! The Show Director – my husband – has patience beyond mine for these kinds of stresses. I’m afraid I would pop and tell someone they’re a douche-nozzle after the fourth time they came to me with some insignificant demand.
One exhibitor with a 20 x 50 foot booth all arranged, demanded on the day of the show to have a different spot – in a sold out floor! So he was accommodated in a shift that meant significant changes to the floor plan. No sooner was he moved elsewhere in the building than he began to complain about the new place he chose. Seriously. Some people create their own drama and they don’t even realize it.
Hamilton was very successful. It was our first show in Steeltown and a new show is always a risk. We had great people and wonderful attractions – I’m proud of the team. Dino, Kerry, Gaetan, Shirley, Steve, Jeff and the others – what a wonderful bunch of professionals. And in London the team gets even bigger. It will be the 8th annual London show. It’s a well-oiled machine. Can’t wait!
