I adore Jane Lynch. Whether she’s track-suited up in Glee or doling out sarcastic advice to Charlie Harper in Two and a Half Men, she’s always the best thing about a scene.
But why is everyone jumping up and down about her opening number in the Emmys last night? If she hadn’t “popped into” several sitcom sets, it would have been a deathly boring song-and-dance dud. The concept was a good one; that all TV show stars live together in one giant building. But the lyrics were so boring. The musical opening only works if it’s ironic. Or sarcastic
I thought it picked up from there, though. My favourite winning speech came from Ty Burrell who won for his role as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, a show I love. Enjoy.
