If you’ve ever been to a trade show, say, the auto show or a boat show, you probably haven’t even thought about what it takes to get all of those vehicles indoors, safely, efficiently and without any crashes or catastrophes.
But for those people behind the scenes, that’s what “move in day” is all about. Today is that day for the World of Motorcycles Expo at the Western Fair Agriplex. Hundreds of vehicles will be brought in, positioned and shined. Pipe and drape will be put in place and carpet rolled out. It’s organized chaos. Some booths are pretty simple while others are complicated. Some people are easy-going while others are high maintenance! Potential exhibitors are still standing by, hoping someone else doesn’t show up because the Expo’s floor place is entirely sold out and others still want in.
This is the text of one of the news releases I put out. It will give you a fraction of an idea of what goes into the show and what goes on. This is one of several releases. Each takes a different angle of the show’s attractions:
You don’t have to be a riding expert to attend the World of Motorcycles Expo at the Western Fair Agriplex, London this weekend. Experts will be on hand to share info on everything from safety to riding tips, destinations, insurance, how to buy proper gear and decide which bike is right for you.
Meet Thane Silliker, Iron Butt Rider and record holder for the fastest Canadian Crossing. Thane knows what it takes to handle a grueling trek across the country and he’ll answer your questions about long distance riding.
The Swap Meet, Saturday February 20th from 9-6 is a great place to find rare items and talk to other bikers about sourcing parts.
Experienced Trials Riders will perform their balancing acts by riding over a limo in the arena. They’ll be available between demos to share the secrets of staying upright while traveling over unusual terrain.
Geoff Pollard and his Top Fuel dragbike – the fastest bike in Canada – will be on hand to pose for pictures and tell show-goers what it’s like to go more than 250 miles an hour!
Show favourite Robbin Wenzoski, chainsaw carver, will create a masterpiece out of a block of wood over the weekend. One of Robbin’s previous carvings will be raffled in support of the London chapter of Autism Ontario.
Some of the area’s best tattoo artists will work on clients live on site!
