…I dislike caves. I don’t like going into a place that I can’t quickly get out of. Claustrophobia isn’t as bad as it used to be, but when it comes to a cave, all bets are off.
…Derek has a weekly breakfast with a bunch of guys he’s known since high school. One of them just had a pacemaker installed. Another, an emergency appendectomy. Still another will have to lie face down for weeks – WEEKS – after eye surgery to repair a detached retina. Four people we know have COVID-19. And all of this happened within the last week.
…I will never share the name of the one of the most important people in my life.

Have you ever had something in your life that felt so big and overwhelming, that the thought of talking about it made you feel like you might explode? Of course you have. We all have. Derek will confirm that I get excited when someone walks toward me with a dog. The animal’s tail begins to wag and my grin widens to match that energy. I always wait to find out whether it’s okay to visit with the dog, but I’m definitely ready for it. The human? It depends. The dog? Always.

I think we all can get a little anxious when it comes to our health. So why add to that anxiety, even if we’re “allowed” to?
…Miss Sugar, the former blogging cat appreciates the comments, messages and notes she’s received since hanging up her keyboard. She gave us a scare a couple of weeks ago, and wants me to fill you in.
…There was a time when talking about one’s digestive system was pooh-poohed. But those days have been wiped out! If you look on YouTube, you’ll even find Erin Davis talking about farts! Farts and science, not just farts. But still … farts.
…Have you ever wondered how much more time you would spend outside if it wasn’t for the Internet? Me neither. I’m too busy viewing nature photos online.
…Everyone needs to really think about what quality of life means to them. But not everyone will actually do it. It’s one of those things that people too often put off and then leave their loved ones wondering. My Dad, thankfully, was clear and consistent in what he did and didn’t want. No heroics. No feeding tubes, no life support, no resuscitation.
