The Cat in the Lap
The last time I wrote about Cuddles, he was recovering from a fairly serious issue. That was in March. Now, you’d never know it happened. He’s his old self.

…We adopted Cuddles the cat, aka House Panther, one year ago tomorrow!
…Welcome to a bimonthly update on how our new, 13-year-old adoptee is settling in with us.
…It’s only been six weeks since Cuddles the senior cat came home with us and it’s becoming like he’s always lived here.
…Even as we grieved for Miss Sugar, we knew it wouldn’t be long before we welcomed another little beating heart into our home. There’ll never be another Miss Sugar or a Spice. But the place felt empty without a furball to feed and love. Enter Cuddles, a 13-year-old panther-like beauty surrendered to Animal Aide in St. Thomas 7 long months ago.
…When brother Dave came back to Ontario to be near family advocates during his cancer ordeal, he brought a friend with him.
…It took a long time to figure out what Spice and Sugar were to each other. Were they reluctant spouses? Roommates? It was about a year into their relationship before they cuddled up but they still have little spats. Spice still dominates her in little ways. He’ll shoo her away from the food bowl if he feels like it. Sugar will back up and sit patiently until he’s feeling more like sharing. We’ve determined they’re brother and sister. …
Today is Miss Sugar’s 11th birthday. She is the junior-senior of our senior cat duo, adopted from the London Humane Society when she was nine. The first thing we did was change her name from Kitty. Talk about unimaginative! …
Spice, the 14-year-old wondercat, has been restless. When he was surrendered for adoption, he was part of a pair. Animal Aide in St. Thomas apparently tried to adopt them together but no one wanted two senior cats. They were both 11 at the time. So Chloe was adopted separately and we came to learn about Spice once he became a solo act. …
It’s time we spent more time talking about people who are doing good in the world, don’t you agree? Hank Fortener is one of them. …
Props to the Calgary Humane Society. Their cheesy idea to promote cat adoption worked and the video, Used Cat Salesman, has gone viral. …
I’ll be honest. I start to lose interest once you have five or six kids. Until that point I’ll feel genuine delight for you. But once you’ve made a starting lineup for the Blue Jays, I’m not so excited. …
Those who are caring for Joe the cat, the frisky feline shot in the head 17 times with a pellet gun, have provided an update on his progress.  And it’s all good news. …
It’s been just over six months since the two of us, who had previously sworn off ever again succumbing to the charms of fur babies, threw caution to the wind and adopted Spice after I spotted him online at Animal Aide in St. Thomas. The other night I realized I didn’t know when our 11-year-old cat’s birthday was. Now I know that he is actually 12! …
