My hope for Dads yesterday was that they felt how much they’re loved and appreciated. My favourite comedy bit about the difference between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day centres on Dad getting “the big piece of chicken”. To paraphrase Chris Rock: Nobody ever says, hey Dad, thanks for knockin’ out this rent every month. Or, it sure is easy to read with all of this electricity! The bit is decades old and a bit outdated, true, but the spirit of it still holds.
My Dad didn’t think I was perfect but I’m sure he thought I was better than I am. Especially the teenage me. We all do things we don’t tell our parents about, don’t we? Jimmy Kimmel’s show took that premise to the streets and ended up with a surprising and funny video! Thanks Dads.
