Little Man of my Heart

Ryker, the son of my Little Sister Tabitha, is ten months old now. I can hardly believe it. He’s big for his age, taking tentative steps and scooting all over the place.  Apparently he said “Da” the other day so father Nick is pretty pleased!

When Tabitha goes to Mohawk College full time in the fall she will need daycare for Ryker. It’s the only time in my life that I truly wish I was able to stay home and take care of a child. I’d happily get him through the years until he goes to school, with love and fun. But that’s not going to happen so I visit as often as I can,as I did on the weekend, and try not to overwhelm him with my affection!

My love for Tabby, Ryker and Nick just proves that you can pick your family, too. We don’t share a lineage but they are as important to me as any blood relatives. And I feel so privileged to have a front row seat to watch this little man grow.

Me nuzzling the neck of a smiling boy, holding him as he stands on my lap. He's smiling! A happy boy with curly, light brown hair, wearing a white sweater and grey pants.

  1. What a wonderful picture! Will you be Li-Li when he talks and starts to truly wrap you around that pinky of his? I’m gonna be Mimi, I think…when that time comes. 😉
