My Biggest Challenge

Every year it’s the same. There’s a point where I become simply perplexed why I continue to live in this country – that I love – when this season has us in its grip. I look on the bright side, find ways to cope and endure, sing a happy song until I hit a virtual wall. And my nose is pressed against that wall right now.

This is my challenge.  It’s a hump I have to push myself over every winter. I try not to hate it.  But I would love to leave it behind for good. (Note to karmic gods, that doesn’t mean I’m not grateful for every day I’m drawing breath!)

  1. You need to talk your radio station owner into a winter getaway like the other 98.1 🙂 or ask Erin to make you an honourary “Wise Guy”. I think the title applies lol

  2. Thought you had this whole winter thing sorted out a couple of Blog articles ago by engaging yourself in your various redecorating and refinishing projects? I think you’re hitting what I shall call the Xmas blues. Now that all the excitement, hustle and bustle has come to an end, you’re coming down from the Xmas high and maybe the bills have started to arrive. I get the feeling, that you’re not good at filling your down time, even what little there is.

    1. Oh Allan. How wrong you are. I think there are lots of people who would confirm that I use my downtime better than most! I have to because of my schedule. I have no post-Christmas bills but you may have a point about the time frame and the blues. But I have never, ever been a fan of winter.

  3. Try driving from house to house all day 6 days a week for a living. I hated winter before. Now that I do what I do there are no words for the feelings I have towards this season. One day I’ll smarten up and book a sunny beach vacation in February…around the time I win the lottery.

    1. Yeah, that’s a very good reason for hating winter. I don’t really have a good reason. And it’s a good reminder that there are lots of people who have it a lot worse – having to drive in whatever falls from the sky or walk or work outside in it. I just plain old don’t like it.

  4. One of my all-time favourite memories, Brenda, is when Lisa joined me as my +1 on a CHFI listener trip. She was the perfect roomie! So much so, that she and I are plotting a little girls’ weekend/getaway, but clearly it can’t come fast enough…and it won’t be to sunny climes. Hang in there, Lisa. Sending warm vibes…xo E
