Loveliest Loo in London?

I’ve been around and I’ve gone around.  By that I mean I’ve relieved myself in some mighty nice restrooms in Las Vegas, England, France and elsewhere.  But I think I’ve found the nicest public loo in my own city.

Moxies has a couple of locations in London.  Saturday’s pre-theatre lunch was only my second time in the downtown Moxies and my first time visiting the ladies’ room.  And what a lovely room it is. It’s almost shocking that there isn’t an attendant.  Each roomy stall has a tiled shelf and a purse hook. The sinks and counter are gorgeous.  But what they get is the real reason women, especially younger women, are stopping in before they leave: to check their make-up.

Two large, round upholstered chairs with high backs. Each has a large square mirror on a swing arm and a switch on the console in between them controls the lighting.

These beautiful, oval seats can easily fit two or three chicks if they’re in a gaggle.  The large mirror swings to wherever they want it and it lights up with a flick of a switch. Visitors are free to fuss and muss and emerge looking like they just left home for the evening.

It’s not easy to impress me with bathroom decor but this is particularly brilliant. And here in London, it’s very unusual if not unique.

  1. Ah, but have you visited the LOOvre? (Couldn’t resist). Truly, these are lovely. AND Moxie’s makes a heckuva salad! Miss you, miss London. But miss you most of all.
