Laminate Me

My little penny floor drew a lot of interest and attention but the big project in our home has been the laminate floor Derek laid in the living room. I knew very little about laminate flooring except that you get what you pay for.   So we decided to go big or go home with the Pergo flooring we bought for our living room.

This is the before shot.  Although the light salmon-coloured rug wasn’t horrible it was wearing down and showing tracks in the doorways and had been around a long time.

We chose a laminate with a little personality.  A week and a brother-in-law’s help later and I feel like I’m entering someone else’s house when I go into the living room.  It makes such a huge difference.   I’m doing a little rug shopping this week for something cream or white.  And I’ve moved furniture around more than once. Hey, I’m a girl!

And speaking of me, my little penny floor is done. Again I had help finishing it off with trim, custom made and installed by hubby. I’m happy with its quirky look. triangle-shaped floor of penny tiles with white baseboard on two sides and oak trim on the third

One day we (and by we I mean they) will continue the laminate down the hallway into what we call the TV Room.  But for now we can just marvel at a job well done.

  1. Laminate? Really? It looks like wood that was dragged from the forest, hand hewn by Derr and his brother in the backyard, installed then lovingly rubbed with Danish oil to give it that dark, rich colour. Are you sure you want to stick with the laminate story? Either way it looks great!
