Losing Pinterest

Oh boy.  People keep finding and following me on Pinterest and I’m afraid I’m going to be a big disappointment.

When we last left www.pinterest.com I was just figuring out the latest hit time-wasting website.  You see a photo “pinned” on the main board.  You like that photo. It could be room decor, a piece of furniture or clothing or perhaps even a recipe.  You “pin” it to your own board.  When people follow you they get an alert to your pins and they check them out. If they like them they pin them and their followers see those pins and so on.   Apparently Pinterest is proving popular for actual online sales.  People find the thing they want to pin and actually buy it more than, say, via Twitter or Facebook.

But who has the time? I’d rather actually be shopping for furniture or making a recipe than filling a pin-board with the idea of those things.  Although I do think the name is brilliant and I had to giggle when I had a conversation about it with someone recently and they kept calling it “p interest” the way some people call the Canadarm the “Canada arm”.  But I digress.

I’m not saying it’s dumb. I’m just saying it’s not for me. So those people who keep clicking on my board and following me hoping I’ll share fascinating finds can just cut it out now.  I don’t have the time!  I have real stuff to do in my real, actual life.  They’re called interests.
