A New Routine

Canadian flag in the shape of a heart

Happy Canada Day!  What a bunch of lucky folks we are to be living here, eh?   I’m grateful every day.

Thursday was “dress rehearsal” day at Free-FM.   All of the on-air people went in and broadcast, in-house only, as if it was a regular day.  It was our chance to try out some of the fancy new equipment before we actually go on air on Tuesday.  As Michael Jackson said in This Is It every time someone made a mistake, “This is why we rehearse.”   The idea was to get errors out of the way before we go before a live audience.

The alarm was set to go off at 3:30 but as you can imagine I woke up several times through the night and finally at 3:24 I figured I may as well end the torture and get up.  The morning went very well.  Not only was I happy with everything and remembered how to use the software (for the most part) I had fun!   It was busy and interesting.  My main challenge will be to develop a routine in which I remember to check and do everything such as post my blog. I totally forgot until after lunch yesterday.  (D’oh!)  But that will come with time.   So will sleep.

This may actually be the most exciting thing I’ve ever experienced in my career:  the launch of a brand new radio station. It’s like the 18 of us have been birthing a baby – some of them having contractions a lot longer than I have – and on Tuesday we’re going to show the kid to the world.  After all, who doesn’t like a little bay-bee?!!

  1. Sending good vibes from the OTHER 98.1 tomorrow morning…so glad you’re healthy and ready to take on the world. But ain’t it hell trying to go to sleep when it’s still light out!?!?!?!?
