I don’t suppose today is the day to crab about the lapel poppy, so I’ll just say it needs a redesign.
I don’t for a second begrudge giving a few more loonies and toonies to the veterans but I lost 4 poppies in this short season, simply because they don’t stay put where they’re pinned. It’s not the spare change that’s the problem, it’s walking toward an old-timer and not having a poppy on that bothers me. There seem to be so few people wearing their sign of respect for Remembrance Day anymore and I don’t want to be thought of even for a moment as one of those who ignores the significance of the day.
